Will be in Chi this Memorial weekend, staying in the city near millennium park and will be seeing the cubbies and pirates. Looking for good Italian beefs (liked Als but my young teens most likely would not care for their distinct clove/nutmeg spice.) How is Mr beef or you guys suggest something else? Looking for tasty tacos--small place or street vender for lunch is preferable. How is XOCO? Is that more of a dinner thing like Frontera grill with wife and kids? Good burgers? And how about good food place with kids near Wriggly? Any ideas would be great

Portillo's has good beef sandwichs.

XOCO is awesome, highly recommend it. It's a lunch thing and relatively a good deal. Frontera is good as well, but I wouldn't do both XOCO and Frontera.

I think Quartino's is good and fun for a family. Seems like you are looking for downtown joints.

Thanks Vlajos! yes mostly looking in downtown except maybe after the game on Sat. Not worried too much about other neighborhood places if they are good. Nothing in the burbs though.

If you are looking for something pretty cheap and kid friendly, I love Choppers on Ashland. The burgers are pretty good, but the real draw are the shakes. They are awesome, IMO. My husband loves the peanut butter banana, and I am a big fan of the chocolate peanut butter or chocolate malt. They'll make just about any combination you can come up with. The shakes are huge (I've never finished one) and I think they're $3.05 or something close to that.

I second Quartino's, I love that place too. And Portillo's, I love their crispy chicken sandwich; I don't know what it is, but I always find it to be really good.
