Stay home if you can and enjoy a four day vacation.

I'm surprised that your employer hasn't spoken to the company employees about this. I work near where you work and we've had a series of meetings in the office ... just in case. Some employees will have difficulty getting to work because of Metra service interruptions. For others it will take longer because of rail security. Most of the concern is for the S. Loop, though there can be demonstrations throughout Downtown ... Near North as well as S. of the river. Our office is remaining open. I've been given authorization to connect to the company IT system in the even the office is closed at the last minute.

I'm actually not surprised because no one in my office has said a word about it. They're expecting things to be totally normal, I guess.

Personally, I will probably work from home just because I can. I work from home a lot anyway so for me that's nothing new. If I can avoid having to use the CTA, I will, NATO summit or not.

My office is urging us to work at home on Fri & Mon, I will for sure on Friday, but am still considering coming in on Monday, as it may be an interesting experience to wander around a bit at lunch time on that day.

The snafus that the idiotic paratrooper boot wearing TSA wanna be "Rail Gestapo" have caused are legendary -- Why Did TSA Pat Down Kids, Adults Getting Off Train? - AOL Travel News so I just imagine what sort of chaaos will ensue when those bozos try to tell attorneys that they can't carry home case files and such on Metra...

Just got word that we should work from home on Friday and Monday. Main reason is the new thing that people can't carry backpacks on. Well, a lot of commuters carry their laptops in backpacks..so yes. I heard also about a laptop size restriction, but haven't seen that actually anywhere. If they do THAT, then that's the one thing I disagree with for sure.

My sister works in the Sears Tower ( I refuse to call it Willis) and the decision was up to each manager. They have other, underutilized space away from the Loop, so she is supposed to work there Friday and Monday, but she does plan on going to her real office at least one of those days to see what's going on. She happened to see Sean Penn in a stopped limo when he was in town a couple of weeks ago.
