I've also been looking to move to the Sheridan Park area right near Montrose and Broadway. I can already tell that the area past Sunnydale/Wilson isn't that great, but how's the area south of Sunnydale (where Target begins)? Do you think I can make it to and from the Wilson El/grocery without any problems?

That's the area I think of as the worst area of the Uptown community area. Whether that's fair or not, I don't know, but I've heard about drive-bys multiple times on the 4400 block fo North Clifton -- there was some seriously entrenched gang activity there if I recall correctly.

I'd say that's a fair assesment. It starts to get really nice when you're on Broadway/Sheridan and Buena. Though, you're almost inside the border of lake view at that point, so it's going to be pricier.

I actually live right there on Sheridan just south of the Jewel. There are gangs in Uptown, although from my 4 years of living there (along with multiple friends, some right at Sheridan and Wilson) is that if you're not in a gang and looking for trouble, your chances of being a victim of something go down about 90% in Uptown. There are news stories and scary things that go on, but Uptown is weird, it's like 25% of the population is down and out or in gangs, etc, and they live right next to the other 75% of the community and the groups have NO interaction.
