A lot of that looks better than what I get at home.

I really hope my wife never reads this.

That looks like something the English would produce after they've eaten.

If I had to stay in the MW that isn't Chicagoland, the order would be

1. Madison, WI
2. Quad Cities
3. St Louis
4. Cleveland
5. Indy

Louisville would be #4 if we can count it since it's right on the border

I was once reprimanded that Louisville is much more Southern in culture and feel than Midwestern.

No one's mentioned Ann Arbor. That's a town in the Midwest I might feel comfortable living in.

Your tastes, culinary and otherwise, change a bit as you get older; you might not want to live in a 24-hour city when you've aged a bit, or have a family.
When I was much younger and hit the bars every weekend, I often went out to eat during the wee hours after the bars closed.

Can't see myself doing that today at age 51. I have to skew most of my food intake to earlier in the day if I don't want to be up half the night with heartburn.

You made a good point that priorities shift when one gets older and/or one's situation changes.

Hopefully, if one has the urge for a 3:30 AM snack, then what's in the refrigerator will suffice; sometimes, the grocery store can be your best friend, if one keeps it sufficiently stocked...

I do understand, though, that Lean Cuisine may not compare favorably to Pequod's or Lou Malnati's , but sometimes it will just have to do...

The above picture just looks like Beef Stew, with tator tots replacing potato chunks..

I don't like "the rat race" but I enjoy a fast pace of let's say, walking down the street. Every person enjoys different crap. You have to accept that.
