Here's what will happen in 2011...

There will not be a single credible challenger to Daley, and we will have no choice but to vote for him. Typically it's either him or some socialist poverty monger from the South Side. There is never a real reform candidate with any credentials. I voted for Daley last time because the other options scared me more.

There's a reason why City of Chicago employees are required to live in the city: that's how the patronage machine stays alive. Until that stranglehold is broken, this jagsack is going to continue getting elected until he dies.

Wow. That must have been quite a scary group.

Why don't any of those folks that ran for Rahm's seat run? Clearly, there's a huge group (at least on the northside) that would vote for 'anybody but Daley"

The machine will have someone else run on a similar platform to confuse people and split the 'anyone but Daley' vote.

First of all I thought it was to promote racial or something like that. Secondly in chicago it's a monarchy, and King Richard the II will rule untill the day of his death.

Daley has more support in the Hispanic communities than any reformer could overcome, rather like the situation between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in the Texas and California primaries.
