That's good...yep you got there just in time. I mean what you see in the first pic isn't bad, but they needed the improvements. The whole thing is called Red Ahead and they've been doing it for awhile. I think they're almost done with it or have.

Check this out too. They want to renovate the Wilson stop to a tune of like $233 million.

The good definitely outweighs the bad in Edgewater.

Yeah, but it is still not all that great. I wish people would tell the truth. Edgewater is gritty and not exciting no it is not a danger zone, but definitely not somewhere I would as a transplant would be be looking for exciting city living, and Andersonville is really not exciting. It's pretty sleepy if you ask me. Personally I feel the area near Granville is about the safest and ok area. This 5200-5600 area that everyone raves feels more seedy and boring. I did not feel comfortable. But my grit tolerance is pretty much at zero and that there is even litter on the grass in some areas of Edgewater. Who wants to live around that, and I am no some suburban born person looking to get away from a sububan hell either like most of the people her.

Let's get real anything north of Irving Park Road and for me personally north of Cornella on broadway is not that great and starts to get seedy. Maybe except for a couple street in Buena Park and some beautiful streets in Rogers Park, and I have been everywhere extensively in the city.

stephei2000, I am telling the truth when I say I love Andersonville, most of which is in Edgewater. I don't find it boring or seedy. I actually love Magnolia Glen and Edgewater Glen, both of which are in Edgewater.

I think Edgewater is one of my favorite community areas of Chicago. I am telling the truth.

I feel ya. Different stokes for different folks. I mean there are some interesting restaurants, and I glad you like it. I am finally in the plans of moving out of Chicago. I just did a self analysis that I geninuely like about 5 blocks of the city, and I started laughing to myself. So now that my money is better and I can finally make some plans to leave.

Back "in the day" (for me at least) in the mid to late 80's the corridor south of Granville was spotty. The area around Hollywood was meh. Has the Loyola influence stretched farther south and made it nicer the last 25 years? Was sad to here about Hamilton's closing down.

Edgewater is one of the great secrets of Chicago. Yes, there are some gritty, weird parts of it, but I agree that the good outweighs the bad. Andersonville is also a great, great part of town...one of the best IMO.

If you don't like any part of the city, then why did you come in a thread about Edgewater just to bash it? If anything, go on city-vs-city and talk about Chicago. If you don't have much good to say about any place here, then your comments about individual neighborhoods are not helpful.
