Interesting. I wonder where the police who protect the mayor were?

Mayor Emanuel’s Son Robbed Outside Family’s Lakeview Home « CBS Chicago

Quote:
Police were called to the 4200 block of North Hermitage at 10:05 p.m. Friday for a report of a robbery on the street where there would normally already be a police presence.

Emanuel’s 17-year-old son went out to make a phone call when he was jumped by two men who stole the teen’s cell phone.

Maybe protecting the mayor instead of his son at 10 pm on a Friday night.

Why didn't they provide a better description of the muggers? Height, weight, clothing, race?

His son didn't deserve to be robbed, but there's still some poetic justice here.

I wonder if the crime will be reclassified as a minor incident similar to how it's done in this article.

Of course this crime will be classified properly. And unlike when a mere ordinary citizen is robbed, you know no expense will be spared to find the perpetrators.

Guess the police are your best friend when you need one, but your enemy when you are one of those stupid protestors protesting about stupid stuff that is not totally as they think it is.

Went out to make a phone call? Really? It's winter in Chicago, and a 17yo boy is going to put on a coat and walk down the street, to make a phone call?

Yeah, right. What, no cell service inside his house? If it was a personal call, why wouldn't he just go to his room?

I'm assuming he went out to call his weed dealer, and the transaction went bad. I bet the description given by the son is completely different than the real guy who took his phone.

Default It does not add up...

The part of Chicago where the mayor's house simply has nearly no random street crime, even stupid criminals just won't hang out in an area that is so overwhelmingly residential.

Toss in the heavy patrols that are part of the Mayor's security detail and it makes even less sense.

The kid admitted to "stepping outside for a phone call" but even if was totally embarrassed to be on some kind hook-up /party line he could have taken a call like that in the backyard / garage.

JacksonPanther is probably onto something. The kid walked far enough away from home that the security detail would not have been in earshot, which really only makes sense if he was doing something he did not want the cops to be able to tell dad about...

The reporters won't be thrilled to investigate this, the kid is still 17, but if some guys get arrested and get the right kind of lawyer they will undoubtedly have a very interesting tale...
