Ok. Your tickets are a different animal than someone who lives in Chicago in a neighborhood zone that refuses to buy a city sticker and neighborhood parking validation and then complains about the tickets they receive for neighborhood parking!

Needless to say, I got a ticket.

Is it worth trying to appeal to the pity of the city, or will I just be wasting my breath?

Also, the street listed on the citation is wrong... I'm guessing I could use that to my advantage if I had taken pictures or something, but of course, hindsight is 20/20.
In your case, don't bother...

Sometimes you can contest and be successful, sometimes not. My husband and I are successful about 70% of the time. He just recently got ticketed for parking in a loading zone in the loop on a Saturday. He parked there to pick up a large server (it was about 40 pounds) and *shocker* load it into our car. When he got to the car, the parking woman was writing a ticket and told him the loading zone is for trucks only. There were at least 20 other cars parked in it without tickets. So, of course, we took pictures and are contesting.

They will try and ticket you for anything, obviously... just add it to the list of reasons why I'd like to move.

Ahh yeah... no doubt. Just re-read it... he should definitely get them, it isn't that much. They should just pay up, and while down there, get the stickers. You also definitely have to be aware of special event parking, and moving your car when street sweepers come... if you don't, that is your fault.

He should get the sticker, plead ignorance and tell the arbitrator he just moved to the city. I bet he could get away with the tickets if he shows proof of buying the sticker and other evidence.
