Very rarely will I ever eat Deep Dish style, and I did live in the Chicagoland area for awhile, not a native, however.

I prefer the Hoosier style- Arni's Pizza, based out of Lafayette, Indiana. Very light with a good quantity of toppings. So underrated and really excellent.

i grew up in Valparaiso, IN -- about the farthest you can be away from Chicago, but still be considered part of the Chicago metro area. This place is in between Chicago suburbs and farm country. I never really ate pizza till I was in high school, but a trip to downtown Chicago (a good hour away) and getting a deep dish pizza there was always enjoyable and a treat. Local places in Valparaiso didn't do deep dish. I voted as a native (grew up in the Chicago MSA), but being an hour away I'm probably more like a tourist, only getting to downtown Chicago about once a month when I lived in Valparaiso -- mostly for cultural activities and food -- varied between pizza, Chinatown, and Greek town mostly.

I love all sorts of different pizzas. I live in a close in suburb of St. Louis, MO now and we have a local place just down the street that does a great Chicago style pizza and a great New York Style pizza too. We probably get pizza there once a month and alternate between the two, but maybe get their deep dish a little more. I also love IMOs St. Louis style pizza, but the rest of my immediate family are not big fan, meaning I just get this about three times a year. I have two out of town relatives that are gaga for IMOs St. Louis style pizza, though, and I always get it when they visit per their request (which I love to do).

To me a good pizza is a good pizza regardless of type. Count me as liking Deep Dish.

As a lifelong resident I'd say my thin-crust to deep-dish/stuffed pizza consumption ratio is roughly 20:1

I grew up in Chicago. I liked the balance of thin and deep dish. I remember going to Lou Malnati's in Lincolnwood in the early 70s. I enjoyed it. Still do.
Deep dish has been around since the 1940s. Most people think it was invented for tourists much later.

When I LOOK at a slice of deep dish, I get tired, and feel bloated!!!!

And yet, when I look at a bunch of thin slice pizza slices, I think, "mmmm. I wonder how many of those I can eat!!"

Go figure!
