So i'll be transferring schools this fall to UIC undergrad and i'm looking for a 2 bedroom apartment around UIC (shared with another roommate). We're looking to pay up to about $900 (not including utilities) for a place close to campus. I really would prefer something in the residential areas of Little Italy/university village. I'm looking for something around an August 1st move-in.

Is my looking price to low for this area?

Default $900 is low

$900 seems a little low for a 2 bedroom in that area, but you may get lucky. Don't go too far west or you will encounter many of the problems of west side Chicago. The closer you stay to campus the safer you will be, but rents will be higher accordingly.

If you can bump your rent floor up another bill to $1000/mo, I think you'll find it will substantially expand your options.

ya 900 is going to be very hard. I know someone that has a 2br off of taylor by uic and it is the smalles 2br i have ever seen. You can barely fit a twin size bed in the bedrooms and you need to keep your dressers in whatever of a living room they have. I belive that is about 800 a month. Im going to be looking for a 2br around taylor and the med disctrict when my lease is up and im expecting to pay about 1200 for a decent 2bed room

Haha, to save some money maybe i'd be okay with a tiny apartment in a good area. I was thinking maybe tri-taylor too (east of Western Ave) as i've seen some cheap/good stuff in that triangle.

How is that area? Some of the posts i've read said stay east of Western/away from Douglas Park

You can probably get a place in the southern portion of East Village or Ukranian Village. They are both close enough to UIC and in a far better area.
