I'll agree with you 110% there. I think all the old money that could be taxed by way of property was either already in places like Lake Forest or it fled the city for the 'burbs by the late 70's-early 80's. The next thing Daley/Jessie Jackson/unions could scare away would be business that occupies "Class A" office space downtown (banks, lawfirms, etc).

The city would deteriorate fast if laundromats, currency exchanges, cheap bridal stores, western unions, bail bond agencies, and "Joyerias" were the only economic engines for the city. Even today, in many parts of Chicago, that is all you will see.

ITA. The sad part about it is that the MSM (SunTimes/Tribune in particular) go out of their way to avoid identifying the status of the illegals who are committing heinous crimes. Jessie has joined up with LaRaza and the city counsel is filled with hispanic traitors who are passing all types of ordinances to protect those in this country illegally. Add to that pot Dick Durbin authored and Obama co-sponsored the DREAM Act and the tax increases just keep on coming in order to subsidize those here illegally. Is it any wonder Chicago has the highest sales tax in the nation and Paletine wanted to de annex?

Don't even start about Palatine...as well as the rest of that stuff. It all makes me want to move to the Bahamas. There, politics doesn't effect you, only rum does.

Agreed. I really want to get out of Illinois for numerous reasons, the high taxes, corruption, crime and the IA hugging sickens me. The Bahamas sound like a great relocation destination.

This is supposed to be a thread about the Olympics. Your comments are what one might expect form a resident of Madrid, Rio, etc, instead of a resident of Chicago.

Why don't you move? When last I looked one didn't need a visa to leave Illinois.

Exactly, which is why I was discussing why Chicago's crime rate should be taken into consideration . . . . you're the one with the personal attacks who have made this thread all about me
