Alright well I am aware this thread is about 4 months late but I was curious. So other then Baskin Robins or DQ-which we need to get more of asap. Who's got the best ice cream and yogurt out there?

I like Margie's Candies for malts. And Oberweis is a consistently good local chain all over Chicagoland that is sort of hyper about using only natural ingredients. And Cafe Gelatto on Division Street in Wicker Park is pretty darn close to what you would find in Italy.

the ABSOLUTE best EVER is Scooter's Frozen Custard, which is...custard obviously, not ice cream. It's on the corner of Paulina and Belmont Welcome to Scooter's Frozen Custard.

I had custard before this and didn't even like it....Scooter's is the best frozen treat I've ever had....

Not to set it up too much ;-)

I'll tell you a place not to go get frozen yogurt, and that's Starfruit on W Division. As another poster said, Margies has great malts. I also had a great experience at Bobtail Soda Fountain on Broadway & Wellington.

if you want to die from a sugar coma, go get a sundae at Sweet Occasions and More. there's one on Clark in Andersonville, right next to Starbucks. I also think there's one on Damen? somewhere? I don't know. eventually there's supposed to be one on Bryn Mawr that i will have to avoid at all costs.

Default Plush Horse

Check out Plush Horse ice cream parolor in Palos Park sometime. The ice cream there is great and yes the place on the weekends tends to get rather packed so be prepared to wait.

I was going to mention Zephyr's in Ravenswood but the place closed down I guess. I remember eating dinner plate sized sundaes that were pretty darn tasty.
