Sweet Occasions and More on Clark in Andersonville has apparently gone out of business without much notice (Sept 1?) Do they have other locations that are still open?

I loved that place.

I would vote for Margies as the best ice cream shop due to its history, etc. Just not very convenient for me being on the northside.

Peterson's in Oak Park just closed a year or two ago. Or at least the seating area closed. I think they just left the Ice Cream counter open for a while, and I'm not sure if it's still there. What a loss.

That place was awesome. They always gave you the little cup of phosphates.

Both Margie's locations are on the North Side. Well, I guess the Logan Square location is a bit far west for a Lakefront dweller, but the one at Montrose and Ravenswood is convenient to anyone on the Kimball El.

Margies at Armitage and Western is in the Near Northwest side. Montrose and Ravenswood is in the Far North Side.

Both are not that difficult to get to or way out in the sticks by anymeans.

I like to be a stickler with terms.

To me "North Side" is an umbrella term that includes all of those areas. And I don't think the "Far North Side" starts until Edgewater, but of course I live in Uptown

Yes it can be and I know you know that.

I knew what you meant, but others might not.

I use it as well at certain times.

I was just clarifying for other people.

Just so you all know, Petersen's Ice Cream is open and doing well!! There are two young engertic new onwers that have vowed to bring the 'NEW' to the old fashion establishment. We have closed the restaurant portion of our business but will re open a new concept soon but, the ice cream shop has not closed nor will it. This winter 2008/2009 we will remold it. The SECOND Petersen's Ice Cream location is soon to open in the western suburbs.

The same great ice cream and thank goodness some things in life don't change!!
