No it's not. We're talking about smoking in bars here. It's pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and you've thrown it out of perspective with your grandiose bull**** about nazis and commies and such. Get over it. There are a lot of public activities that are restricted in a free society--particularly ones that affect other people.

The question is do you ever vote Libertarian?

Tell me more about how the right wants to restrict my life.

A vast majority of the restrictions on my life and others in the last 8 years have come from DEMOCRATICALLY controlled governments like the Chicago City Council, the Cook County Board, and the Illinois Legislature.

Let's start with removing the separation of church and state, thereby creating a de facto Christian government in conflict with the Constitution. The restrictions that follow would be staggering. Ever seen those dry counties in the South that don't allow dancing in public? It's basically the American Taliban.

Then there's restrictions against gay marriage, gays in the military, etc.

Conservatives support unecessarily Draconian drug laws.

Conservatives like to limit free speech, particularly in terms of moral content and dissenting opinion. Bush would have installed a House Un-American Activities Committee if he had had his way.

There's a whole slew of civil liberties that are constantly under assault by conservatives. Too many to list. Many legal protections are under attack by conservatives.

Of course not. I'm a center-left Democrat, not a Libertarian.

1) Actually yes I have. Yes they need to be changed. No argument there.

2) Are you kidding me? Free speech is under assault today more than it ever was in the last 8 years.

There are people on here calling others (like myself) Republican like it equates to being a child molester/killer. Yes I have voted Republican in the past. SO WHAT? Does that make me evil?

Free speech is being quashed.

I have voted for candidates from all parties throughout my voting history.
