I really want to move to Chicago from Michigan. I have been there several times and in the Winter as well and still love it!! I've been applying for jobs and if I can get one, I would love to move. I'm looking for a safe area that is near other young people, bars, and shopping. I have heard a lot about Lakeview...? What other areas would you suggest and what are they like? Also, would it be safe for me to live alone? I can probably afford around 800-900 a month. Thanks!

This question gets asked a lot, so search the forum. But, that said, yes, Lakeview is the usual entry point for twentysomething singles. It's cheap, fun, has lots of great restaurants, and is filled with other twentysomthing singles. Check the area between Diversey on the south, Addison on the north, the lake on the east and about Racine on the west - anything in there is Lakeview and tends to be really nice, especially along main streets like Clark, Broadway, and Sheffield, and the apartments along the lake - though small - can be had for $900 a month with some searching.
