GOLDBLATT'S!!!! Wow. Now that's a blast from the past.

WIEBOLDT'S!!! I completely forgot about Wieboldt's.

Y'all are much better at this than me.

How about the Woolworth's (Woolco?) that was, if I remember correctly, on Michigan, Ave. not far from Roosevelt University.

Also... remember when the Native American warrior statues (at S. Michigan and E. Congress Parkway) still had their weapons.

How about the big lighted lips billboard. I think it was for a carpeting company.

In the 80s there was a Wag's restaurant immediately to the South of that Walgreen's.

Across the street was a Sambo's restaurant. That chain eventually had to change their name to Golden Bear.

I don't remember the statues of the mounted Indians ever having weapons, just the suggestion of them which works better artistically. I remember as a little kid (in the 1950s) being impressed by the statues and wondering where their weapons were.

The big lips were for Magikist, a carpet cleaning company. There were several of the signs, one along the Congress at Cicero.

I remember the Wieboldt's in Evanston. Had to collect those S&H Greenstamps!
Also Turnstyle in Morton Grove at Waukegan & Dempster- It turned into a Bally's
How about Kiddie Land at McCormick & Devon?
I vaguely remember Riverview on Western between Addison & Belmont.

Oh man, Zayre. I used to get Atari 2600 games from there as a kid, at the location near Midway airport.

How about similar stores/chains - Venture, Phar-Mor, Ames, Auchaun (pronounced o-shawn)?

How about when Chuck E. Cheese was still called Showbiz Pizza?

The Magikist Lips! I remember the lips would flash, and was so bright at night looming over the Kennedy at Montrose.

I remeber Turn-Style, too. My mom went to the one at Harlem & Foster.

Not exactly true.

Sambo's went belly-up as a chain in 1982 and closed down. They were Sambo's to the end. I could never tell the difference between Denny's and Sambo's.

I remember Auchaun- My buddy had an HR job there and then the Unions drove them out. Or was it ahead of its time or too pricey?
