John Steinbeck. I don't read Steinbeck that often. I usually read more contemporary stuff, but I think he is timeless.
When I was growing up, we always called our couch a davenport. I never heard the word used except in my own family, so I ended up going with couch instead. I don't know anyone who calls it a davenport, so it's interesting to know that my family wasn't totally alone in this.
