Do you really think that God is going to torture billions of people in fire not for a minute, not an hour, not a day, not a year but for e_t_e_r_n_i_t_y just because they didn't give a cup of water to one of Jesus' brethren per Matthew 25:31-46 King James per-Version?

The worst sin ever committed was the crucifying of Jesus and even then He forgave them! Was that not far worse than not giving water to a thirsty brother?

Did not Jesus tell His disciples to forgive 70 x 7 every day?
Why all of a sudden is God going to eternally torture billions in eternal fire just because they didn't give some water to one of Jesus' brethren?

If God realy is that demented to do such a horrible thing then He is not worthy of our worship but worthy of our loathing and contempt.

A proper translation and understanding puts God in a proper and good light.

This section is dealing with ***NATIONS*** and not individuals.
It is dealing with what those nations did to Christ's brethren during their tribulation.
Rather than being ***eternal*** it is "age-during chastening" for those nations. And rather than being in a literal fire, the fire is figurative in that it stands for trials and tribulations such as the Hebrews went through while in Egypt for 400+ years. Those Hebrews were said to be in a crucible and that the fire burned off the dross from them. But it was not real fire nor real crucible.

Now does this not put God is a much better light?

Can I get an Amen?

Yes people who reject Lord Jesus Christ and then pass away gave their lives the their god the devil and the fallen angels where their soul will die and their spirit can not die . Where The Lord Jesus will not have any purpose for these spirits who`s souls have died and will be lost to the Lord ..... Its all bad news for the people who were slackers and did not do any thing about believing the Lord Jesus, so get over it .........The Lord Jesus does forgive and will only forgive people in their life time after that there is no mercy for these lost spirits Just as there is no mercy for the devil ,demons, and fallen angel who rebelled before and are lost.......

Amen! God will not torture anyone. It's so sad that many of us were taught a false gospel that is the opposite of good news - very bad news.

so hljc, you really really really believe that our "loving" "kind" "compassionate" "full of mercy" "Whose mercy never ceaseth" God is going to eternally torture people, possibly billions of people in fire just because they didn't give some water to one of Christ's brethren? Is that really what you are saying?

Amen!! God is love, and a God of love does not torture his children for all of eternity. It's "age-during" like you said Eusebius, and it will be corrective like a Father correcting his child, not torturous. Very good OP.

No. Immortality is based on belief in Christ.
The scriptures testify to this....dead or alive.
Otherwise....you just die, and wither away, like the rest of humanity that doesn't believe.

No one will burn for eternity. But they will be burned up for eternity. The fire that consumes the wicked in the end will be just as real as the fire that consumed Sodom and Gomorrah. That was a fire that burned until there was nothing left to burn, and it remained burned up forever. Fire is not the final punishment for the wicked, death is the final punishment. Fire is simply the means by which that punishment will be carried out. So much, of the character of God, is marred by by Satan's lie that the soul is immortal. The bible clearly states that the wages of sin is death. Death is the absence of life. People use the phrase "life after death" and always seem to think that you can have some sort of "afterlife", while still being dead. That is impossible, yet it is the lie that Satan has been the most successful in getting people to buy into. He has gotten the vast majority of people to believe that death isn't actually death, he has gotten people to believe death is simply a transition to another life. That concept makes a liar out of God and subtly yet profoundly distorts the image many people have of God. God is full of mercy and grace, that is why He gives everyone of us a choice of eternal life OR eternal death. Never have one of the options ever been "eternal life, but burning in a lake of fire the whole time". God understands that there will be those who simply want no part of God's kingdom or His governance over their lives, and in His infinite mercy He will grant them their request to die rather than subject them to an eternity in the kingdom of the One they have rejected.
