What did Moses, Elijah & Christ talk about in the Vision?
Mat 17:1-3 And after six days Jesus is taking aside Peter and James and
John, his brother, and is bringing them up into a high mountain, privately,
(2) and was transformed in front of them. And His face shines as the sun,
yet His garments became white as the light." (3) And lo! Moses and Elijah
were seen by them, conferring with Him."
Ha! Not quite little elmer but those are good thoughts. Here is what they spoke about:
Luk 9:28-31 Now it occurred about eight days after these sayings, taking along Peter and John and
James also, that He ascended into the mountain to pray." (29) And it occurred, in His praying, to
the perception His face became different, and His vesture glittering white." (30) And lo! two men
conferred with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, (31) who, being seen in the glory, spoke of His
exodus, which He was about to be completing in Jerusalem."
Just as Moses experienced the exodus out of slavery in Egypt, Jesus was about to experience an exodus out of death into the promised land of God's rest.
Some versions say they spoke of His death or His decease or His outgoing or His departure but the Greek word "exodus" is used here and it is pretty apparent when used with Moses that that is the word that should be used to describe what Christ was about to experience since Moses experienced an exodus. Now why Elijah is seen in the vision with Moses I'm not sure unless both Moses and Elijah were both prophets who had mighty miracles and so were types of Christ? Or it could be that both Moses and Elijah were ill treated by their own people just as Christ was?
4Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
This tells me what the natural minded man loves doing and how denominations are born, they build a shelter around a revealing, and says this is all there is, this is all the Truth and the shelter they have built around a truth( a revealing) keeps them(the denomination) in darkness.
Luke's Gospel has the answer. It says very clearly that they were discussing Jesus' upcoming "Exodus" (literally from the Greek)
What is the "exodus" Luke is referring to. Well Remember that in Exodus the main event is the work of God to free his people from bondage to Pharaoh, and being them into the promised land. Thus the "exodus" is a type of what was to come. Remember that it was by the blood of the lambs sacrificed on the first passover, that God delivered the Israelites from Pharaoh. However Jesus "exodus" is different. By the blood of the lamb, Jesus, sacrificed on this passover, God will deliver mankind from their sins and Satan, destroying Satan's work, and open the kingdom of heaven , the promised land, to all mankind. Hope that makes sense to you all.
Moses represents the Law. Or God written on paper. Elijah represents prophesy, or God manifest in man, but in one person, not all.
Jesus represents the third Day, the Resurrection of the Spirit of God come into ALL the world. Christ in you, the hope of glory!!!
So how do you think Peter actually knew that the men Jesus was taking to was Moses and Elias?...... Well it shows that Father God quicken Peter and maybe the others with Peter which told them it was Moses and Elias, because Peter never seen Moses or Elias in His lifetime....... And then a voice out of a cloud saying `This is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased``, which was Father God confirming the vision....... Also Jesus said that John the Baptist has the same anointing or calling as Elias had.....
