I don't know which false god you worship, but the God of the Bible, the God of Israel, who incarnated as Jesus Christ,
gave His Law... moral, civil and criminal... to His people for them to administer in their society. Throughout the Bible,
when God's people obey God's Law, they flourish; but when they disobey God's Law, they perish. Those who teach
God's people to ignore and disobey God's Law are the enemies of God and God's people.

Those who try to usurp God's authority and enforce His laws upon anyone other than themselves are evil and corrupt would-be dictators who will answer for their hubris with a heavy burden. God wants VOLUNTARY compliance with His laws out of "love for God and each other" . . . not a dictatorship police state run by corrupt human fraudulent representatives.

.... July 9,1868, was the year that the 14th Amendment was adopted, nothing new there. You know some of you Christian fundamentalists should read up on your history and study a few things before making certain statements, you might not put your foot in your mouth so often, you even make statements from your sacred book that in some cases are completely false because you have not read the whole context of what ever statement you're making. There's an old saying; it's better to look like you have some intelligence than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.......

Obviously you do not know the God of Israel. He gives commandments, not suggestions.

God's Law... moral, civil and criminal... was given to His People to administer in their society.

God also gave His people the appropriate punishments for them to administer to those who disobeyed.

Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the God of Israel. God's Laws are Jesus' Laws.

Jesus obeyed God's Law and never taught anyone to do otherwise.

At Transfiguration, with Jesus were two others... Moses and Elijah... who personify the Law and the Prophets.

But I DO KNOW Jesus Christ and He smites no one and certainly ordered no HUMAN to enforce God's laws on others. He commanded "Love for God and each other," period!!! All who would pretend to usurp and enforce God's laws for Him are evil and corrupt would-be dictators who serve an IMPOTENT God who cannot enforce His own laws.

Tell that to the money-changers at the temple.

" He made a whip from small ropes and threw everyone with their sheep and cattle out of the temple courtyard.
He dumped the moneychangers' coins and knocked over their tables. "

John 2:15

You can not enforce the command to love God but the duty of man is to enforce civil and criminal law to protect the innocent, bring order to society, and to deter criminal behaver. God has ordained government to do that. If we think that some laws are wrong and sometimes they are, then we have the privilege to pray, vote and voice our opinion for change. Governments that go afoul too much, God will allow them to be taken out, sometimes by other nations and sometimes by revolution. Blessed is the nation who's God is the Lord because it will endure but those who put aside His laws that are comman to all and justice or mercy will perish.

ROM 13:3-6 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Will you then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and you shall have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that do evil. Therefore you must need be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay you tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

2PET 2:9-11 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

I assume you are referring to a Dante-type torture chamber that some Christians call "hell."

The term for "hell" [sheol] in the Old Testament means "grave."

The Bible says the wages of sin is death [not eternal torment.]

There is only one way to immortality, via Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

He who administers God's Law, God's Justice, must also follow God's mandated punishments.

Under God's Law there are no prison punishments. Unlike man's law where men are caged for years, abused and raped.

Under God's Law, either the person was fit to return to society or he was not.

Some crimes mandated the death penalty [like blasphemy, murder, adultery, kidnapping, homosexual acts, etc.]

The point of God's Law was obedience and protection of God's people and their society from evildoers.
