Yes I believe it is robbing God. We need to be obedient in all things. God said test on this, I have and He did what He said He would do, He is faithful to His promises.
Well..like my grandma and the Bible said...God loves a cheerful giver..
I can honestly say that God has blessed me for giving..there have been many times where we have had checks come in the mail for no reason at all...I remember one time..right after the birth of our first child..my wife and I had just starting tithing..and we were hard pressed that week..I was like God..how in the world can I afford to give to you..and that very week we got a check in the mail for a overpayment to the doctor....I can only say it was God.Then i was like..how in the world can I afford NOT to give to you..
some churches now teach that we arent supposed to tithe, but should give according to what is laid upon ones heart..
I've heard some people say this too.. Maybe a test of this saying would be, does it make me give less or more than 10%? Maybe that doesn't make any difference, if we give cheerfully and willingly. What is our heart telling us?
What if that 10% exceeds what I can give? Am I to tell my child
"Ohh. I know you are hungry and I gave 10% of our money to the church (even though I couldn't handle 10%).. but don't worry. I gave 10% so we'll be o.k."
