Slavery was once legal so there was nothing wrong with it if your argument holds any water. Just because something is legal does not mean it is moral.
True. But moral issues are what we stand before God for . . . NOT society. The standards are different for society. I can't see God accepting the excuse that society said it was legal.

You miss my point. You cannot describe abortion as murder because it does not meet the legal criteria FOR murder. Call it infanticide if you will, but murder it is not.
I find it shameful that in the "Christianity" forum, the point that abortion is evil is actually being debated. How far have we sunk in society where people calling themselves Christians actually think it's acceptable?
I don't know that she said it was good. Children who are unwanted suffer much. I have met a lot of people who had miserable childhoods because they were unwanted. The fact is, it is certainly NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS if a woman chooses NOT to have a child. Mind your own life.
The truth that these verses tell is that life begins at conception. Rebekah conceived a child—not what would be or could be a child. Note James 2:26: ". . . a body apart from the spirit is dead. . ." Since the soul is the principle which gives life to the body, then a child carried in the womb of its mother has a soul because it is alive. To kill it is murder.

If you look up the meaning of infanticide it will say the killing/murder of a baby. By the way some are wanting to make it legal to kill the infant after birth---post birth abortion is what they want to call it----so many evil people who live in this world.

May I just quote in return.
Quote:
The Jewish discussion about abortion begins with a biblical text. Exodus 21:22-23 discusses a situation in which two men are fighting. During the fight, one of the men accidentally hits a pregnant woman. The Torah says that if the woman is killed then, “a nefesh shall be given for a nefesh (a life shall be given for a life).” The man who struck her is considered a murderer and is punished accordingly. If, however, the woman miscarries but does not die, the man must pay monetary damages.
He is not liable for murder because the fetus is not considered a nefesh, a human being.
Yes, the Jewish people do look at pregnancy differently than Catholics and I wondered about that. I did some research online and found a Jewish group that are pro-life and have decided on being more pro-life than other Jews.
The Jewish Pro-Life Foundation seeks to save Jewish lives by promoting alternatives to abortion in the Jewish community. We provide education about fetal development, the viability and sanctity of unborn life, and traditional Jewish law regarding abortion. We inspire Jews to welcome unborn Jewish children into the inclusive movement of modern Jewish life and religion. We provide adoption referrals. We teach our community about the harmful effects of abortion, and provide support to Jewish women and men who suffer from post abortion syndrome.
Bella is a movie with relatively unknown actors and actresses which doesn't "preach" against abortion, but it does have a classic way of showing the results of life over death.
The theme is about a young woman who is fired from her job as a waitress because she has started coming in late to work (morning sickness). The movie never names who the father is, or points her out to be a bad person, but a cook in the restaurant cares enough for her to walk out of the kitchen of the restaurant and catch her to talk with her.
There is no obvious sexual attraction between the two, but the interrelationships of the cook, the manager who fired the waitress, the cook's family---a lot of things--come together to provide an outcome that is very, very pro-life.
It's the kind of approach EVERYONE who names the name of Christ should have about abortion, and how they should treat women who are considering such an action. It says more about the love of Christ without once being a "religious" movie.
Our goal as Christians should be about reducing abortions through finding solutions for troubled women. The movie Bella illustrates how one person can make a change in one life by being committed. Though it is not always a highly professional made film, and though there are some parts that appear at first confusing, the ending will be so clear, so strong, and so moving, not many will ever forget it.
