I get the picture where you are coming from........keeping your old nature in order by denying it. To be spiritually minded which is the way of transformation is not denying the flesh, because the spiritually minded man does not consider is flesh to deny it, and to give it any form of attention is the reason we are defeated by it. The spiritually minded man's consideration is.........whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things

If our old nature is manifesting, it's because we have been giving it our attention, we considered it.

Serious question: Do you deny yourself fried foods and skip the pie a la mode so your selfish desires won't lead you to the sin of gluttony? Or is all about sex and animal lust?

You don't want to make it too difficult for him/her, Dew! After all . . . there is also being too lazy (sloth) and other weaknesses that plague us all.
