Well, it is fine by me to engage on every level of Christianity and Sex. There are rules for sex in Christianity.

We have never really addressed hetero rules. I am curious if other sects deal with sex in the same manner as the Duggar Christian sect.

Christianity and Sex. What are the rules?
When Jesus says merely looking at a woman and getting a slight itch is tantamount to having physical sex with her you know that something is wrong with Christianity......or Jesus....or BOTH!!!!!!

If that were true, every man will burn in hell... just another example of religion being ridiculous in its attempt to control humans' sex lives.

You really should study more before reaching such conclusions..Not that you'll be likely to hear what I'm about to say from a conservative apologetics site. Actually, the word Greek word for "Woman" in this passage is the same word used for "Wife" often times in the bible. For some reason, the Koine Greek used by the Bible and possibly other Koine Greek literature, they don't use other normal Greek words for Wife or Husband and just simple say "his woman" to refer to his "Wife". The context in Matthew 5:28 is "adultery" which, from a Torah understanding is very specifically sleeping with another mans woman/wife and is punishable by death because it is Theft against the Husband and potentially his family lineage...

..therefore, just as Tyndale translated in the first English Version of the Bible, the word Woman in this verse should have been translated "wife" which makes alot more since logically and given the context. We should also keep in mind that in that culture, virtually every Woman was Married, Divorced, or Widowed by age 30. Basically, this is what happens when a bunch of ascetic/stoic influenced Priests and Monks get ahold of bible manuscripts and try to translate words but thats just my opinion ;p

I would say it must be consensual but at the same time we should give in to our spouses as much as we can within reason. In Marriage, the bodies of the couple belong to eachother and should not deprive eachother unless there is a very good reason. This is mostly Pauls perspective as well.
I do not think you are off topic. Beliefs and cultural changes should be recognized by religions, and I wonder why women are treated so poorly in religion and within our culture.

I believe we are responsible for examining the history of sex and Christianity. It has become more stringent regarding women, and does not call men into accountability for their actions.

I believe my body belongs to me. It is my decision to share with a partner, not his. I do not consider frequency of sexual intercourse anywhere near deprivation.
Deprivation is your partner is incapable of having sex. And both of you are deprived. Not just the male.
In Duggar world, a wife being in late term pregnancy not feeling up to sex is depriving her husband.
She is expected to be "joyful".

They are followers of Bill Gothard. Michelle, a true believer of Gothardism, is just passing along what he's thought up. Gothard has never been married but he has been accused of sexual harassment. I'm not sure which of those makes him qualified to tell women what they should be doing in the bedroom.

I have NO idea why Michelle thinks following Gothard's instructions on sex, or anything else, is a good idea.

Well, it's a good opinion; that's makes a "hell" of a lot more sense to me than the current thinking. So men for centuries have been psychologically marred for life because when they were 20 and got a slight errection at the sight of a saucy Christian girl in the congregation walking by they went out and castrated themselves so they would never again suffer the shame and guilt of turning a lustful eye on a girl. Poor guys...... and all because they had the unfortunate luck to read a bad translation of a single verse and misinterpret it:

Quote:
"And if thine testicles offend thee cut them off and cast them from thee for it is better for thee that thy testicles be cut off and thrown into some potter's field than thou and thy testicles be cast whole into the fiery furnace where the worms dieth not and the fires are not quenched" Mark: something or other

We can include a discussion of what truly qualifies as fornication/porneia/prostitution and adultery from a biblical standpoint in this thread if you'd like but I will warn you that it can open a very large can of worms and I don't alot of time these days, lol. Anyways, I agree with pretty much everything you said here. I haven't really been paying much attention to the Dugger story so I'll have to take another look.
