Christian men are having an alarmingly difficult time abstaining from the sexual sins of viewing pornography and committing adultery on their spouses, according to a new national survey. Tragically, married Christian men are failing miserably when it comes to these sins, as 55 percent look at pornography at least once a month and 35 percent cheated on their spouses in an extramarital affair.

"The rate of extramarital affairs appears to have a correlation to frequency of viewing pornography," Hesch proclaimed. "A married person who views porn several times a month is ripe to have an affair.”

Survey: Alarming rate of Christian men look at porn, commit adultery

Yes it a sad case and I am astonished with the rate that 35% of men cheated on their spouses. It a major issue and has also caused the downfall of Churches and major break up with families.

It appears that the good Christians are just as human as we hell-bound heathens.

Quite a number of the 'born again' mob, including a close relative I knew in my youth, cheated on their spouses. The pastor of our Elim Pentecostal church touched me up when I was 14! One of the church elders described to me what sexual activities he would like to perform on my mother in his hayloft!

This is real. I had the same issues as I watched that stuff when I came to Christ, and continued to be addicted for a time afterwards. I will always have that struggle as long as I am on the earth just because it's a weakness for me and I gave in to it for so long. Thankfully I have never had a temptation to cheat (physically) on Mrs. DRob... it was just a bad habit.

Being a Christian is not about absolute perfection. Christ takes us as we are with the goal of having our life reflect His life. That means we are going to mess up and sin along the way as we grow. The important thing is what Christ does for me on an eternal basis.

Is this surprising? Many surveys have come out in the past saying that the highest number of porn users come from the most religious areas. Divorce is higher in religious areas as well. This is not surprising at all. There are many religious hypocrites.

Bingo. Pornography is one of the most intense addictions and, in 2015, one of the easiest to feed. Paul in Romans 7 makes precisely the point you are making - and about himself, not others. The question is always, "Are you a different person with Christ in your life than you would be without Him?" - not "Are you a model Christian?" or even "Are you a better person that your atheist neighbor?"

When one is a Christian, one does struggle mightily (with the help of the Holy Spirit) against the temptations of the flesh. And, of course, the more one appears to be succeeding, the stronger the temptations the forces of evil are likely to send one's way. So I believe that Christians are under (1) intense psychological pressure to live up to their beliefs and (2) intense supernatural pressure to fail. This is why, I believe, that the failures are so often spectacular - Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, et al.

"Hypocrisy" may be the explanation in some percentage of cases, but then this really says nothing about Christianity. "The struggle between the flesh and the spirit" is, I believe, the explanation in the vast majority of cases. The inevitability of this struggle is one of the major themes of the New Testament, so the fact that Christians struggle with pornography or divorce should hardly be breaking news.

The topic of sexual immorality....These replies would sound similar to another area of sexual immorality that is discussed here ALL THE TIME and that we should just ignore, according to the heathens & some Christians on here, so lets apply it to men & porn as well and see how it sounds.

-Looking at porn is not sexual immorality.
-We shouldnt judge them, they were born that way to like women.
-They cant help it they like other naked women as that is the way God made them.
-Being addicted to porn is not a sin.
-Would you rather those men not look at porn and just be unhappy.
-What a man does behind closed doors while looking at a computer screen should be none of anyone else business.
-What does it harm anyone else if a man is looking at porn or not, in the privacy of their own home....it shouldnt affect me and my family.

-If you dont agree with men looking at porn and lusting after other women, or committing adultery is a sin, YOU ARE A BIGOT!!!
-Thats it....there is too much bigotry towards men who look at porn and cheat.
-They will now have to start a church for porn watchers and adulterers where can can feel comfortable and accepted, since the church is being judgmental towards them and not accepting their lifestyles.

Yes, because being in love with someone of the same sex is the same as having a porn addiction. It's funny how you guys can't seem to differentiate certain things. Shows a lack of education.
