Well, I think it all stems from the fear based religion that most all conservatives and sadly, many liberals follow.
With hate so much hatred, there is no room to love others.

Also explains why fundies, like those I grew up around, are so negative and miserable all the time. They have fallen into the Dark Side.

I'm sorry...from my perspective I see a lot of folks on the anti-religion side that express a lot of hate and fear.

I have yet to meet a fundy with a pleasant, optimistic demeanour. They always look - and post - like their last meal was a lemon washed down with vinegar.

My dad once said that if everyone has a problem with a person...it's probably the person in question, not everyone else.

Perhaps you should look inward. Maybe the problem is not the "fundy", but it's you.

Nice "Slick" deflection.

It's not a problem for me that fundies are miserable. They simply are. It's quite obvious from your, jeffy's and bryan et al's posts. You think poorly of yourselves and even more poorly about others.

It's quite understandable that a person who obsesses about "sin" within and without and believes in a murderous god, would have a rather dyspeptic, jaundiced view of life.

What is ridiculous is the premise that if any of us show what the Word says about a subject, particularly a hot topic to you and yours, then WE are obsessing about it.

By that faulty reasoning, then ANYTHING we share, you should be accusing us of obsessing over that too, but you do not. Wonder why that is? Could it be because YOU are the ones obsessing over it? Nah, like you, I'm sure that's just a figment of my imagination.....Peace

Some do, but many even most do not. On the other hand, such thinking seems to be a prerequisite for fundamentalist life. I grew up in fu dychurcvhes. I never met a sing!e loving person there . That includes my own family, as well as the evil ex wife church of Christ's family. Hateful people all around. Amen

If what you say is being attempted is true, then concept of liberalism is indeed a religion.
It has many of these characteristics

It's god is thine self.
It's alter is abortion
It's minister are the activists
It's sermon is humanism, socialism, communism, atheism
It's law is the mockery of the Bible, moral absolutes, Judaeo\Christian values
It's gospel is don't judge us but expect to be judged by us
It's heaven is nothing at all or ya'll get there no matter what previously held as true

p.s. ....fwi: I don't care if you don't agree or think it's ingenuous.
