All martial arts, karate yoga are part of Zen natural religion , and even transcendental meditation of the Hindu belief is dangerous and will attract demonic spirits ....... See The living God through Jesus forbids His followers to engage in strange gods , and beliefs of the world as this would be a substitute for Jesus and a idolatry as this would tempt the Lord God , so it is best to pass of these religious custom which would be non Christian ...
::Sigh:: Please for your soul's sake abandon your irrational concern over supernatural boogeymen! This is the 21st Century, NOT the 1stcentury.
Considering that there are elements in yoga that is not good; what is it for?
If to use as a method to relax; there are other ways.
If to use to strengthen oneself; there are other ways.
When I hear that yoga can serve as a ground for the devil to devour; I would suggest other ways.
Well.. yoga can be bad. Some people have testified to how it became bad to them. I saw how it became bad for a high school classmate of mine. He began hearing voices.
Need clarification, please. Are you saying something that sounds like astral projection but going inside?
If so, a simple reflection on the fact that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is in us and with us always as well as the Father should be sufficient, but at no time did the scripture teach us yoga to go inside of ourselves to do it in that way to acknowledge that truth or to get into that truth. There is no mental over matter to be practice here. It's trusting Jesus Christ in us to do it.
Just reflecting on Jesus Christ being in us and with us always and trust Him to center us in the midst of our storms in life is all we really need.
If the methodology turns a believer to Hinduism, then it is our business because like alcohol, if we cause a brother or sister to stumble, that is on us.
We should be pointing believers to go to Jesus Christ as our refuge; not within; not without; not yoga, nor anything else, but before that throne of grace for help in our times of need to center ourselves; to relax; or to strengthen ourselves. We should lead by examples and not credit anything else for what we look to Jesus for when it is about seeking to improve our overall well being in life.
I am sure believers can poke hole in this; but then, they would be ceasing to preach Jesus Christ & Him crucified.
Seeing the methodology shared in every avenue, and reading and hearing testimony as a result stemming from that methodology, I do not need to.
You do not need to try illegal drugs to see some of its harmful effects as testified by drug addicts. So the same goes for yoga.
Yes.. a lot of people seem to be doing yoga without any problems; the same can be said for those that do drugs and say that they are not an addict.
Does that mean every one that does yoga are afflicted? No. It just means.. not yet.
But if I recall correctly, you do not believe in the devil roaming about like a devouring lion, and so you do not see him as being the cause of these afflictions which comes about by "emptying" or "opening" oneself up for a chance encounter.
Better to look to Jesus Christ for their refuge instead of a methodology that makes one vulnerable.
If you're so easily manipulated that your faith could be tested by the use of yoga for exercise, and to become more toned, then stay away from it. If you love Christ more than the air you breathe your faith is bulletproof, and nothing, NOTHING will effect it.
Romans 8:38-39
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."
My friend and I go to the same church and we decided after the new year to get into shape. I suggested yoga and sent her a link to the yoga studio. She then replied that the studio is too new age with Buddha images and that she looked more into it and found that yoga poses are offerings to Hindu Gods. She sent me a link to an article and I read it but I'm just confused. I'm a newbie Christian but I just don't see anything wrong with doing yoga. I don't get it...is yoga bad?
When people say stuff like that, its almost as stupid as when people say you are bowing to idols when you bend down to get presents under a Christmas tree.

If she doesn't believe in Hindu Gods, why is she worried about a yoga pose possibly being an offer to one of them? I'm not sure I get it, either, duffster.. Maybe just go alone. If her faith is so easily threatened, perhaps you are not the one who is a "newbie". know what I mean?
