the big 10 are to people as individuals and not nations. Now the 10 , it is a good basis of common law , but as far a governments job is like a husbands job or like the churches Job. their job and sometimes their only value is protection from evil ( as God defines evil , not as swishy or wishy washy men might ) . at the foot of the mountain The Lord made individuals first agree to that law , then as a nation. but protection is GOD"S LOVE also, people don't want to deal with that , because they have always had his protection from evil and don't have a clue what it means to not have it. but humanity just might yet learn that lesson.

edited to say ... God made Rome Israel's husband. WHY ? because they must of been bad husbands(by government and their religious) and women and children and families were not being protected but exploited .

Even the Sanhedrin believed that if a Sanhedrin sentenced one person to death is 70 years, then it was a murderous Sanhedrin, and no one wanted to be any part of that...

There's a bunch of early contemporary evidence that the wording translated is the equivalent is "thou shall not kill" and not the much more specific "thou shall not murder"

Then again, there's arguments the other way also.

Endurance.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

12 Foundations of the house of Prayer.

5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant [a]_[+] prayer was offered to God for him by the church. 6 And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. 7 Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands. 8 Then the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and tie on your sandals”; and so he did. And he said to him, “Put on your garment and follow me.” 9 So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.

An ox and the well.
Glory, Glory, Glory.....

And now fear the Lord, and serve Him in sincerity and in truth; and remove the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the river and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.
