The Old Testament is filled with prophecies about the coming of the Messiah. In fact the very year of the coming of the Messiah was foretold. Jesus said that the scriptures, the Old Testament, testified of Himself.
John 5:39
“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
The 144,000 will be ruling on earth with Jesus. These Old Testament prophecies are for the Millennium:
Isaiah 2:3
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Micah 4:3
And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
"Nation shall not lift up a sword against nation" - This will never be until the Kingdom Age. The 6,000 cursed years continue to the Battle of Armageddon when God moves out of His place to intervene.
According to Revelation the 144,000 are Jewish male virgins, 12,000 each from each of the 12 tribes of Israel...And what is their purpose?...
Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives, and it is His feet that "shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives" when He returns.
Acts 1
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
Daniel 9:25
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks...
Daniel gives us the exact time in history when the Messiah would appear and begin His ministry. The Messiah had to be in the world at this exact time to fulfill this prophecy. Exactly.
Daniel 9:25

The ^ above ^ post seems reasonable to me because I read at Luke 3:15 that the first-century Jews at that time frame were in ' expectation ' of Messiah arriving on the scene at that time. So, those people expected Messiah to arrive in their time.

I find there is a scriptural difference between ' spiritual ' virgin and literal.
That includes the 'spiritual nation ' since Pentecost of 1st Peter 2:9,5
No longer a Jew by flesh, but by spirit, the Christian congregation, - Romans 2:28-29
Jerusalem on Earth No longer the seat of government, but now Jerusalem above - Galatians 4:26.
I can't figure out the Jewish male virgins part when Galatians 3:28; Col. 3:11 brings to our attention neither male nor female.
Surely , Jesus' mother Mary would be part of the first or earlier resurrection of Revelation 20:6.
As to what is their purpose? I find the answer is at Revelation 5:9-10.
They serve with Jesus as: kings and priests.
As kings they will take care of spiritual responsibilities for people living on Earth.
As priests they will take care of governmental duties towards people living on Earth.
The USA is nowhere in bible prophecy......invalidates all of it....
Nor is the British Empire mentioned, but I see how the USA works in harmony with Britain.
Did you notice the 'feet' of the the HUGE political statue of Daniel chapter 2 ______
Each world power comes down to the feet of Daniel 2:44.
So, although No mention of nations after Rome, the feet are a ruling or governing power on Earth.
Since the USA and England are still active then we are at the time of the statue's toes.
Or, should I say we are more likely at the 'time of the toe nails' before the kingdom 'stone' soon strikes the statue.
