Would it be better to study Ancient (Classic) Greek or Modern Greek to better understand the Bible? I would think Ancient but perhaps it doesn't matter?

The language of the New Testament is Koine Greek. That's what you would want to study if it's to better understand the Bible, as there are differences between classical Greek and Koine Greek.

If not, go with the one you want to learn for the benefit of what you desire.

If you're confused in English you'll be confused in Greek, but you'll sound smarter. First make sure you're saved, then rightly divide the book and dispensations. Deeper things of God will never be known by unbelievers.

Koine Greek is what you'd study in Seminary. It's the language the NT was written in. You'd also take some Hebrew classes, as well.
