All I can say is wow! Okay, I can say more. Many of you know that about me. Seriously though, this story makes me sad that we live in a society that puts these values ahead of God. Read this article I received from a military email.
As Christians we should be in prayer about this issue.
do you suggest then that all the soldiers should be reading the Bible instead? while shooting at humans, while they see bombs going off and witnessing the unthinkable? i bet most of these men and women are wondering where God is right about now.
let them have their fun at least--take their minds off of the horrors they see day in and day out
I did not make any suggestions about reading the Bible. I definitely advocate the usage of the Bible in everyday life, but I also realize that it's not important to everyone. My creating this thread is because I've seen how destructive pornography is in a person's life. It has power over people that is unbelievable. I fully understand they're away from wives, husbands etc. But that does not make the case for porn.

What would make the case for porn? I'm guessing nothing based on your value set. However, why should they have to adhere to your value set? Just another case of the government interfering in the private lives of its own citizens by way of christian "morality".... from a congressman no less.
And thanks to Larry Craig.. we know how well Congressman (and women) adhere to the rules they'd like to shove down our throats.
Also.. what is "porn"? Are we also going to prohit them from viewing nude art at an art show? What about nude photographs at an art show?
Why should I pray about this? I'll pray for their safe return home to see their families instead..
Im probably on the bubble here, because I dont think its the governments job to dictate what we can and cant look at, even in the military. Not saying Im for porn..cause Im not..I guess I have just studied too much history..
I know I know, its porn and Im supposed to be against it and I am...for me. I just dont like letting the government decide whats right and wrong for me, cause right now I may agree with the government and taking away someone elses rights..what if the tables did a 180..we get a government against christianity and the Bible...Im just saying...dont all flame me at once

Never said anyone had to adhere to "my" set of values. You don't know what porn is?
I didn't ask you to pray. I recommended that people who are believers in Christ pray...if they're in agreement. If you don't agree...go about your merry way.
As for Arguy's response, I will agree with you. But do note that governments have been telling their citizens what to do for centuries. We may not like it, or agree with it, but it's happened throughout the world for centuries.

You posted the post. I'm assuming you are in agreement that the military shouldn't sell Playboy at the Post exchange? Is that correct? Or are you telling me that you are fine with them selling Playboy at the Post exchange? If the latter then yes.. I'm very confused.

I do in my own view.. but quess what.. I'm guessing "my view" of what porn is might be quite different than what a preachers "view" of porn is.
So what is your definition?

Actually you said nothing about agreement.. unless you've added it. You simply stated..

Of course governments have been telling their citizens what to do for centuries.. thats one of the purposes.. to enact legislation. However, enacting legislation that benefits the moral minority of a few is not good government...
