I used to be able to find several topical Bible study guides in the bookstores and online but I’m not finding them anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am desiring to get closer to God/Jesus. Thanks for your help!!!
You are not going to know everything when you read - just keep reading.

If you have the Holy Spirit, He will draw your attention to a passage where He wants you to stop and ponder in your own spirit.

It the Moses and the burning bush approach. The Lord drew Moses' attention to the bush and he turned aside to look at the bush, and God was there.

Or when just starting out, "The Message" by Eugene Peterson is much more comprehensible for the average reader. It helped my pea-brain.

Strangely, I have not found any decent devotionals either, so just blindly reading what I come across in various searches.

I agree with what you say here, that has been my experience of being drawn to words, phrases and concepts, what I then do is follow where that interest leads, rather than me being in charge of my own progress

Just like Jesus in Matthew 13 mentioned that not all understands everything, Grains of wisdom add up or otherwise taken away.

The road into our glorious Lord is one of stages leading from where we are presently, into Him. It actually goes on and on, and I believe will never completely come to an end. I wish you well on this incredible experience of His Life.

"The mother eagle teaches her little ones to fly by making their nest so uncomfortable that they are forced to leave it and commit themselves to the unknown world of air outside. So does our God to us. He stirs up our comfortable nests, and pushes us over the edge of them, and we are forced to use our wings to save ourselves from fatal falling. Read your trials in this light, and see if you cannot begin to get a glimpse of their meaning. Your wings are being developed." -Hannah Whitall Smith

We are not supposed to do what we do in an unloving way... that is what I thought of when I read the other person's response to my question. Your answer was kind and humble and I thank you for sharing that Word. I agree with you and perhaps the Lord is allowing this suffering so that I get closer to Him which is what I desire right now and why I posted in the first place. Thank you for your heart and the word picture about the eagle. God Bless.

If you would like myself to take you through it, or you have questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for offering. I will check it out...

Yes thank you... I have been gifted with a spirit of discernment and I felt very uncomfortable with JoJo's response to my question. I felt scolded and not loved or encouraged which is a huge red flag for me. I agree with you, thank you for your help and for validating what was in my spirit. God Bless.

Don't worry my response to them will be silent from this point forward. I don't deal with judgmental and unloving Christians because I do not believe that is from our loving Father.

Likely you would agree, if we can save 1 life, it will be worth it.
I will be praying for you tonight. I was saved in January of 1981... 40-years ago. You will not be saving anyone when it comes to me. Thank you.... good night.
