I'm having a hard time focusing enough to pray vocally or silently. I drift away, I feel self-conscious.
But I really like to write so today when I was trying to journal, it turned into a prayer in writing. I said "God please read this", lol. I do much better with that method of communication.
There are the Psalms, after all. But were they originally written, or spoken, then written? Does it matter?

question: did you ever think that maybe when your mind wonders when you pray that it might be Gods way of showing you that you need to pray for that to which your mind wonders?

I agree with mike and pneuma
Reading, Writing, thinking, reasoning, speaking are all part of the process we are involved in
Ask, and It Will Be Given
Mat 7:7**Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 7:8**For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Mat 7:9**Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Mat 7:10**Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
Mat 7:11**If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

It's fine. If writing helps you to focus your thoughts as you pray to God then by all means do so.

I'm much more articulate when I'm writing than when I'm speaking, so sure, write God a letter. I'm sure He'll read it and won't be offended.
If you need answered prayer speaking with faith is the key as Jesus said ``what comes out of the mouth show the heart`` of the prayer ........ So if you require writing your prayers than you should ask God for help and then read your prayers to God as God will see what you are trying to do instead of being too lazy to pray

Amen to that! Every time I think about God, I am communicating with Him. I don’t think He necessarily needs a lot of words, and He sure doesn’t want vain repetitions.
