That's passive language. A warning from God.

It does not say "You should kill those who take up the sword"

Are you suggesting somehow that her victimization is greater because of this, than if she were not those things you mention?

This is what amoral, Moderator cut: offensive and insulting thinking does - devalues human life so people are just objects, women become objects for being used like a disposable paper towel, and any laws that stand in the way are just man-made rules that were made to be broken. If they think they can get away with it, they will do it every time, people like that.

Capital punishment for murder and certain other crimes is Biblical. And compassion is for the victim. Not for the criminal. The murderer should be executed and then he will never murder again. That is a part of the laws of divine establishment for the orderly function and preservation of the national enity.

Dani, why are you using this rhetoric to incite people here? She said atheistic thinking. And yes that type of thinking does intend to diminish life - that is what we here all the time - there is no special place in the universe for us, no ultimate purpose, and certainly no objective moral values. It is not hard to see young immature minds follwing this to its logical conclusion to treat a person with such sexuall objectification.

She never said it caused the rape.

And whats with the God is a rapist statments? Such nonesnse! Stop turning this subject into your personal diatribe against God.

A comment like kellyk made will automatically incite the opposite view....it is ridiculous to say that gang rape is due to atheistic thinking. If I came on a little stong...well forgive me. I just get really teed off at statements such as that.

Yes there are examples of "god's people" condoning rape. The main one that comes to my mind is in Zechariah ch. 14. It describes a day of the lord when the city shall be taken and the women ravished. (raped) among other things. We have to assume that if it is the "lord's day" that god is a-okay with what is going on. There were even OT laws regarding raped women having to marry the rapist. If the OT is indeed the infallible word of god then it was god who gave that law, right? So if god gave the law for a raped woman to marry the guy then he's okay with rape.

So the article mentions that these teens were using "atheist thinking"? I must have missed that part.

Of course this is an awful and horrible thing, it's SIN. SIN filled and degenerate. The brute beasts are full of a sickness and SIN. The people standing by are filled with SIN are cold, heartless, and without compassion or mercy just as the Bible says, "the love of many will grow cold."

How does anyone know this victim was a "devout Christian"? Just because she goes to church three times a week? Not hardly. The biggest mistake is on the parents for letting a so called "devout Christian" go to public school, and this "homecoming dance."

Moreover, her friend reported that the victim said upon entering the dance, "I can't wait to get my dance on!" Add to that that her confused parents had stated they, "didn't like her to stay after school." Right, but going to public school in the first place, and a homecoming dance was ok?

This is the wonderful twisted socialistic Godless country we bring our children up in, and this is the results of years of brainwashing by public schools and allowing children to be unshackled from God or the Bible.

Welcome to planet anarchy!

Father forgive them... they know not what they do.
Or what they say.
Their hearts are plunged in darkness.
Please wrap your loving arms around those that would blame the victim and help them see the error of their thinking.

That's all I can think to say in this thread...

peace.

I really beg to differ as regards that generalization.

You can not possibly convince me or anyone else that over a two hour period of time, only atheists gang raped her.

They weren't all atheists, were they....?

Rape: Not a "religious" issue. Certainly not a "Christian" issue.

-Because if it really, truly was, we'd have threads, upon threads, upon threads, upon threads, voicing outrage about what happens in Darfur every single day.

-Yet we don't.

Take gentle Christian perspective care.
