Funny how that the more translations we use, the more we can water down the sovereignty of God.

Good thing He doesn't change.

Why don't we use the Hebrew instead of a false translation:

Isaiah 45:7 Hebrew Study Bible (Apostolic / Interlinear)
יֹוצֵ֥ר אֹור֙ וּבֹורֵ֣א חֹ֔שֶׁךְ עֹשֶׂ֥ה שָׁלֹ֖ום וּבֹ֣ורֵא רָ֑ע אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה עֹשֶׂ֥ה כָל־ אֵֽלֶּה׃ ס

I form the light and create darkness I make peace and create evil I the LORD do all these things

Your disaster is the Hebrew word ra' which means EVIL.

A better translation is calmity, we deem not good, adversity, punishment....Today the word evil is synonymous with sin or wickedness but it wasn't so back then. The word translated evil in scripture does not "necessarily" mean evil in the same sense that we understand evil in our day.

so when you punish your child by spanking you inflict "evil" on them.

Not really, This is theology 101 even the Jehovah Witnesses agree. Study up on the word "evil" and see how they used it back then. This is a common misconception among Christians in the use of the word, "evil" because of how cuture has changed it today.

The thread is entitled "sin". Evil is not sin.

God doesn't know sin until we do it. That is the only way He knows sin. Through our experiences, God experiences all things.
