A true born again christian will not be hated by the world. Those who profess to be born again and aren't, will be hated.
A born again christian is perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect. The person will show attributes like that of our Father. He will be the personification of God walking the earth as Jesus once was. He will show no negatives towards another, only that which is Truth, Beauty and goodness. In no way can the true born again christian be hated because the person would be absolute Love.

Amen. I think a lot of professing Christians are hated and despised because they are obnoxious, rude and intolerant. They then take that scripture about being hated by the world for their faith and claim the be hated for Jesus sake when in reality they are hated because they often act hatefully wherever they go.

True so true, Heartsong. They are hated because they are obnoxious, rude and intolerant . . . NOT because of Jesus. It is the supreme irony that they pat themselves on the back for being like Jesus when they are as far from Christ as it is possible to be.

John 15:18-20
18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
This scripture is one of those that really resonates with me. I have found it to be so true.

Right on... I tell my Christian siblings often that they have good intentions,
but they drive people away from Jesus or God...bec they sure don't want to
be like them.

If a person has a reaction in themselves when they read your words...
good chance the reaction came because it is true and it is the reaction that
comes from the ego.
It is like an Internal Guidance System...if you are not feeling peace, contentment, detachment,
it's the ego reacting.
All that is "of God" is opposite of these reactive feelings of indignation.
My experience and observation, anyway.
I think it worthwhile to point out that "the world" is not so much talking about people in the world as it is about the worldly system based on selfishness. Those who operate in selishness will hate having their mode of life exposed or even just compared.
