Does anyone have any recommendations from personal experience in using a headhunter or placement firm in the Cincinnati area?

I am, of course, googling this myself and can find some information on line. However, personal recommendations are generally quite helpful.

I'm essentially looking for a firm that knows the Cincinnati employment situation intimately and has experience placing technology professionals.

Thanks for reading and any tips you can throw my way!

Technology has created a bit of a monster (pun intended) when it comes to fees for headhunters. The local practice and I expect the practice everywhere is that when a resume is provided to a headhunter by the candidate and then that headhunter is the first to supply that resume to an employer along with a proposal for fees, the headhunter is entitled to a fee if the person is hired. This is true even if the employer does not sign an agreement.

Accordingly, what happens is that when you provide your resume to the headhunter, he will send it to 10,000 prospective employers via email blast and if any of them hire you (whether or not based on the headhunters' email) he will try to claim a fee.

This means that when you eventually find a job yourself, which is how most people get a high level job, you may find that there is a headhunter out there claiming a fee that may be an obstacle to your being hired. (You do know the fee is typically 3 months salary?).

Just saying.
