FWIW, If I got transferred I'd live in Mason and commute.

But it sounds like the OP wants an urban experience, so Mason is not an option.

FWIW Part II: The OP said he is interested in an urban environment. Therefore, what you would do in regards to Mason is moot.

The OP has simply stated he has not seen anything close to the urban environment he is accustomed to in Baltimore. Then just about everyone here gets theirs shorts in an uproar and wants to defend Cincinnati. Cincinnati does not need defending. It is making great strides. It may still have some way to go. But the OPs present claim about urban living. Cincinnati has not only an increasing amount of urban living, but a whole lot of other things which make living here enjoyable.

Far as I am concerned if the OP does not like the Cincinnati environment, he can turn down the job here. Over my 50 plus working career I was sometimes assigned to go to Baltimore. I would try to get the assignment changed. Bethesda Maryland was a place I liked to go. In my era just chocked full of technology companies. But Baltimore, if I got an assignment there it was pure endurance.

Like Cincinnati, Baltimore may have gentrified a great deal. but considering how far each city had to go I would say Cincinnati is not only catching up rapidly but will surpass Baltimore very soon.

Baltimore is a toilet and the OP spent a couple of hours in the car with a real estate agent. He just needs an adjustment in perspective.

Does blasting on Baltimore really make some of you feel better? Ironically, the next time someone says people from Cincinnati are provincial, or negative, or unwelcoming, you'll be the first to protest. And yet here you are, being provincial, negative and unwelcoming. Give it a rest.
