I was just wondering if grits are popular in Ohio, and if so, are they predominantly found only in the southern part of the state , or statewide? I would assume they would be popular in Cincinnati, being on the Kentucky border.

I think that Windsor, being a suburb of Detroit, has more folks who like grits than Cincinnati. But, we still like our grits down here. Not instant grits, mind you, the real thing.

I've only had a grits a couple times in my life, but I'm not from here...my personal rule is to only order them south of lexington.

I love grits too, but you cannot find them anywhere in Windsor, at least not on a munu anywhere. I'm not sure if you can find them in Detroit or Southeast Michigan either. I would assume they would also be hard to find in Northern Ohio as well, but figured that they would be more common in Southern Ohio.

Being from Wisconsin, Id never even heard of grits until I moved to Cincinnati. They are definitely available here. That said, I've come to learn that this is the far Northern border of Grits country and they only get better as you go South.

Well, grits are like mashed potatoes. Nothing much until you put some butter, salt and pepper on them, or drop a couple of grilled pork chops on top.

Or you bake 'em with a couple pounds of cheddar cheese.
