Anderson fits your needs....aka Forest Hills Schools.

OP, have you researched the schools in Alexandria. I'm with the live close to where you work crowd and Alexandria is a very nice area. Keep in mind as the kids get older NKU is just up Rt.27.

I believe the Forest Hills School District (Anderson Twp.) is still highly rated. That should only be about 15-20 min. in normal traffic. Milford is rated pretty well. On the Kentucky side, your best bet is probably Highlands (Fort Thomas).

Hi folks, considering bringing my family to Alexandria Ky, would be driving to Norwood every AM, and returning in PM. Traffic? I'm leaving traffic central in Long Island NY.... thanks!

If you want to live in Kentucky--which isn't necessarily a bad idea--some of the closer-in suburbs would be a lot easier commute - Ft Mitchell and Ft. Thomas come to mind as having good school districts if that's a consideration.

If I were you, I'd stick to the OH side of the river if you are going as far north as Norwood.

Why?

Brent Spence construction is bound to happen within the next few years. The politics behind it is all over the map, but most people are pushing for a rework and a expansion of the current double decker bridge. And any kind of construction would throw that already arduous commute into turmoil.

Have you looked into Batavia? The eastern edges of it and points further east like Williamsburg would be similar. The commute would be easier. And you could go to Alexandria very easily via I-275.

Commute one way will probably 45 minutes to 60 minutes during rush hour. 30 minutes otherwise. Take AA Highway to avoid US 27 and save time.

I wouldn't want to cross a bridge for my everyday commute....a wreck pretty shuts them down, and the inevitable Brent Spence construction will unleash unholy hell on bridge traffic. I'd look at Anderson Twp, Sycamore Township or Mariemont if I was looking for good schools near Norwood.

I don't care what the stats say, I would NOT send my kids to school in Kentucky. The Kentucky schools out statistic their peers because Kentucky is a state low on the educational totem pole and the schools they are testing against are nothing to shout about.

The best Kentucky schools are roughly equivalent to a middle of the road to upper middle of the road Ohio school district. There is no comparison between the best Ohio districts and the best Kentucky districts.

Thanks
Great schooling is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to life in Mason. Case in point, a typical day in mid Aug for me:

1. Wake up, get a tour of P&G, get free P&G products.
2. Watch Federer beat Novak live at the southern open, or whoever is playing that year.
3. Leave there, then ride some roller coasters at kings island making use of that season pass...
4. Head to The Beach and try a few outdoor water slides....
5. Head to Wolfe Lodge, try some indoor water slides. Stay the night at the Lodge because we don't feel like driving the 5 min back to our home in Mason.

Mason...so much to do you would think it was a CITY and not a SUBURB.
