You're spot on. Malls are pretty much a thing of the past, although a few of them are still doing big business. Here in PA, Millcreek Mall (Erie) is still alive and well (in large part thanks to out-of-state and Canadian shoppers who pay no sales tax on clothing, as Pennsylvania charges no such tax). But almost all of the smaller malls are either long-gone or on life support.

Honestly, I'm not all that surprised. Even a decade ago, it didn't seem like it was all that lively. But I lived close to it so that's where I went.
