4 or 5 months? OK Nov-Jan=3 months. And of course there's lots of warm gear for cyclists.

The OP could choose to be central to where they need to be thus not needing a car.

Anything else?
Do you live in Cincinnati? Feb is usually the worst month here, in fact we just got down with our snowiest Feb ever. And we have had cold temps up until a few days ago. Its snowed on Opening Day here and Halloween. In 4-5 months of the year it would be crappy to bike in.

My point is, for most people, having a car in Cincy is a must. I dont think anyone could dispute that fact.

I hauled one of those chair-and-a-half thingies from Eastgate to Madisonville in a 94 Honda Civic once -- the matching ottoman was strapped in the front passenger seat and it was February no less -- but I digress.

Perhaps it is possible to live in Cincy without a car, particularly if you live and work in the downtown core. The question is Why would you? The hills are murderous, and cut the city into multiple sections. I can think of a lot more attractive places to live without a car. Campbell Ca. is one which particularly comes to mind. Nestled in a mountain valley, the valley itself is flat as a pancake, and enjoying extremely mild year-round weather, Campbell is definitely an area I could see living in without a car.

I live in Cincinnati and I wish I could get rid our car. Such a waste of money.

Do you consider your car the only waste of money?

^Lmao.

I would love having the luxury of not needing a car in Cinci, but unfortunately that will not happen anytime soon (if ever).

No - it's a solid car, newer, but I'm putting $30-$40 a week in gas in it and I'm looking at another one, after seeing the ridiculous depreciation in value vs. what I paid for it - it's almost sickening. This doesn't include that my tires will need to be replaced soon and my insurance and car payments make too munch of a dent in my income. I'd rather be putting that money back to go on more vacations throughout the year, you know?

No doubt about that ... just imagine what one could do without the cost. I just added it up ... for close to what I spend a year (gas, ins., car pymts., etc.) I could almost put my son through UC for a year?! Is this not crazy to anyone else? I mean think about that for a second...

Late to the conversation, but I have to agree that a car is needed. When I had the opportunity in 2009 to leave Florida and choose a new place to live, my first thought was to return to Cincinnati, my home town, but I wanted to do it without owning a car. When I was growing up in Cincy in the 1960s public transportation was very good; my family and I got along for years without a car. But on checking the limited public transportation available there now, I was dismayed and had to rule out my coming back home. I chose Portland, Oregon, instead, largely because of its excellent public transportation. Surely Cincinnati can do better than this.
