We are from Cincy and now live in NC and WOW it really is in some ways the old south down here still. I can say that if we did not have any sort of an accent I would have trouble in the job world. I see what everyone says about how you sound and fitting in. It really is the Good Ole Boy network down here! We have had a hard time adjusting in the south. Cincy is not that bad of a place ot live at all. Our current Pres. is not real popular down here at all..Go figure.

What part of NC do you live in? A lot of the areas in the south like to boast the "new south" image. It's somewhat true in the urban areas due to all the transplants but you don't have to travel far outside of many of the urban areas to find the "Good Ole Boy" attitude.

Obama is definitely not a popular figure here in Cincinnati as well. Frankly, I get sick of hearing all the conservatives whine at work about what Obama is or isn't doing.

For some reason I automatically assumed you live in the Charlotte area. Politically speaking, Charlotte is more liberal than Cincinnati, but has VERY conservative suburbs and outlying counties.

After eight years of seeing signs like BUSH-HITLER and the like, I think that the criticism is rather tame.

Funny--"Cincinnati has the potential to be a great city, but people are so content with the way things are which handicaps the city"

Why is contentment a bad thing? If you are miserable with your condition, there are lots of places to live.

I have a friend from Ohio who used to say he was glad when people left Ohio, because then he had it to himself.

Ok maybe the dumb hillbilly rep does have its basis in fact--Ohio used to be a middle of the road, moderate sort of place and now many have leaned over toward conservativism, which really hasn't done a darned thing for their economy.
