Shame to have missed that free 8 Gs from the gov't though.

Whoops, forgot to hit quote on Kjbrill's most recent reply.
Both my sons did the 8000 Obama Money thing. On a 100000 house that translates to about 18 months of payments. That's why the two family is empty and available. I may put it on Craigslist and see if there is a handyman with 250k. The house next door sold this week for 565k. Two doors down that house sold for 444k. So someone can make some dough I would think. I'm just too old to fool with it.

Yep, it was a glorious day when I got that big fat check in the mail. Used it for extra payments, some furniture, etc...still have some left after a year in savings.

Wow, mind if I ask what street you are speaking of? Guess I could probably just look it up though.

Looks very nice, and on an absolutely awesome street. Doesn't get much better for location than that. On a street connecting Hyde Park Square to Wasson which spills over to Hyde Park Plaza and Rookwood, etc.

And, since it dead ends to the south there is no traffic.

Maybe I'll put it on Craigslist. I'd fix it, but I just don't have the enthusiasm any more.

I've always believed in living in neighborhood first, house second. That way, you never get scorched. I lived in East Walnut Hills when I was a lot younger and after the third break in, I said enough was enough. Its a lot better life to live in a place where you can leave your new gas grille out and not worry if it will be there when you get home.

Personally I'd be wary of moving to a new city and buying anything right away--regardless of how much rent I could afford to pay. I'd be even more wary of moving to a new place and buying a condo, since even in a good economy they can be difficult to sell. Renting a condo in a building that I might be interested in buying into--now, that seems like a good strategy.

I so much agree with this approach. For persons who would buy in a large condo project, renting a unit in the building is a great way to learn if you want to live there.

I like the Regency and I would expect that a unit could be rented there. It would be no problem to buy a 2 bedroom unit there for 1000/mo though.

Norwood like a cheaper place to live than Hyde Park & Mt Adams... So are there any streets I should avoid in Norwood or street I should live on? I'm a young single girl alone so I don't want to get into trouble =D

THANKS everyone for your comments so far!

I agree about buying and I'm not going to buy a condo either. I will be buying a house hopefully (if I like Cincinnati) after the first year. I have already called the Regency and at the moment they don't have an apt available.

THANKS!!!
I would rather pay the $900 than the $1200... My max is $1,000 if possible. SAFETY is my #1 priority since I'm a single young woman living alone.
