lol, i don't think being home to the Golf Channel means anything. That would be like saying Atlanta is the weather capital because The Weather Channel is here, or we're cartoon experts because The Cartoon Network is based here.
In this case yes it does. Maybe the Golf Channel is here because we have over 150 golf courses in the area which is more than Myrtle Beach, the Monterey Peninsula and Hilton Head combined! Or maybe it's because some of the most legendary golfers from newly single Tiger all the way to Mr. Palmer, have called Orlando home and make a huge impact on the community. Daytona is also home to the LPGA which brings the burgeoning female world of golf into the picture less than 45 minutes away. All in all, I think a channel like the Golf Channel gave it some thought as to where it could best access resources like Bay Hill, Chirs DeMarco, and a countless barrage of professional golfers and top notch courses on a regular basis. Throw in the fact that our weather (funny you should mention it) makes playing on lush green fairways a year round event. Plus Universal Studios has production facilities that are second to none so that probably made the decision easier too.
Since the thread seems to be about golf, it's surprising the real hub of golf in the country is not even mentioned. Orlando is not it, but it is fairly close. On the list, though, and only for golf, I would rather tee off somewhere in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Nothing else on the list comes close. Just some trivia, my early childhood home was David Duval's childhood home, and it wasn't in any of the cities on the list.
