I want to see which one will get Philly, and I found San Antonio, San Diego, and Dallas. Since San Diego was where I lived , I chose San Diego. I wanted to see if San Diego can pass Philly (7th again ) in the next 20 years . San Jose also can pass Philly in 25 years and so.

Philadelphia (1.55m)
San Antonio (1.45m)
San Diego (1.4m)
Dallas (1.35m)
San Jose (1.05m)

Based on Occupied Cities of the United States Ranked by Population: San Diego (1,261,868) and Philadelphia (1,316,639) in 2005 are closer to each other, except this was based on 1996 estimates by the US Census.

This poll has 4 options:

Option A: San Diego could be way over Philly
Option B: Close: San Diego more populated
Option C: Close: Philly more population
Option D: Philly could still be more population by 100,000

I will put in San Diego more populated; but rather close (San Diego could be at 1.75m and Philly could be at 1.7m)

Happy Posting!!!

P.S. Give your opinion for other cities like ones posted above.

Lol hi.

They're both such slow growers though (presently), San Diego has always been a city that has never cared about growth at all, and I love that about San Diego. Philadelphia is the only city along with New York City that has always been in the top 10 largest since the US Census was created.

But in my opinion, San Diego will pass Philadelphia up someday in the next 25-30 years. (if current trends continue)

Wink New sources!!!!

Ooh, this is handy. San Diego at 1.4m and Philly at 1.62m

http://www.worldatlas.com/geoquiz/thelist.htm

Just look under "10 Largest USA Cities"

1. New York 8.09m
2. Los Angeles 3.8m
3. Chicago 3.1m
4. Houston 2.78m
5. Philadelphia 1.62m
6. Phoenix 1.54m (alredy is in 5th)
7. San Antonio 1.5m
8. San Diego 1.4m
9. Dallas 1.32m
10. Detroit 1m

What is this, you say? It gives you a look of the cities that are catching up to Philly (in red) in year of 2004.
