Portland has more walkable neighborhoods, I prefer its downtown, and the city advocates public transportation with an extensive light rail and streetcar system.

Portland for now , but Denver 15 years down the road. Portland's Network after looking at it doesn't service the denser areas. Denvers network will service all types of densities. Ridership seems to be also higher on Denver's network. Colorado also plans intercity line servicing the I-25 corridor and into the Mountains.

There planned Main Station

I would say Denver, especially when it comes to regional transit.

They might be pretty close now, but with all the expansion in Denver, it won't be close much longer.

Bus systems count as well. It seems like every suburb in Denver is easy to get around by bus. How about Portland?

Portland currently. That Denver map looks great - but they've been talking about a light rail line to DIA since 1995. It is improving rapidly and will reach Portland levels soon, but right now, Portland's the more comprehensive system. Denver's easy enough to get around, though. The RTD goes everywhere.
