that seems right. st louis and cincinnati were the early inland boomtowns

NU JOISEY doesnt know if its a wannabe nyc or a wannabe philly. In reality its just a piece of land between those two cities

as fashionable as it is to make fun of new jersey, i am sure it is a very nice place. but it really isn't on topic for this thread to discuss a whole state.

In the larger picture, there is no identity crisis for Washington, D.C. It's the capital of the United States. That's really all it needs to be. Anything else is just details. :-)

As for Maryland, the state is mainly northeastern culturally. But it's somewhat split, as southern Maryland and part of the Maryland's eastern shore continue to have a laid-back, very friendly southern vibe.

Not Really - and the NYC/Philly Metros grow closer NJ will become this one big suburb supporting two cities...

Now extreme south Jersey probably still has its independent culture
