What fringe cities offer the best amentities for living and working?

As a example to me fringe cities would be a place like Siver Spring or Tyson's Corner in the DC area.

Bellevue, WA, it's beautiful. Bellevue is both middle class and affluent and it's pretty diverse. Bellevue has it's own sizable midrise skyline, good shopping, great views of Seattle, the Lake, and the mountains.

Would Galveston, TX qualify as a fringe city? It's a pretty cool city that's close to Houston but also far enough from Houston to have it's own identity. It's also kinda amazing how quickly they bounced back after Hurricane Ike.

what's the definition of a fringe city? I know Orlando has a well known international fringe festival every year, but idk if that means it's a fringe city.

I think he means a smaller city that is part of or just outside of a larger more well-known city. A city that gets over-shadowed because the bigger city gets the spot-light, but is close in proximity.

Winter Park, FL is a very well known fringe city and the fringe of Winter Park bleeds into Orlando not the other way around.
