My point was its free to get into Jersey, because its much less desireable than PA or NY. Usually better things cost money, and free things suck(in terms of quality), as does Jersey.
No, that wasn't your point. First you said NJ was being greedy (by having tolls to get into NYC/Philly), but then you flipped it to that ^
It's possible to be 7 hours away from NYC in New York state
It's possible to be 6 hours away from Philly in Pennsylvania.
You're never more than 2 hours (give or take) from BOTH Philly and NYC in NJ. So your claim "NJ is less desirable" is ridiculous... Being one of the best educated, having some of the lowest poverty rates, and being the wealthiest state isn't "less desirable"- especially when high property taxes generally means having a more "desirable location"
You were ok with NJ in the beginning of the thread, but when you saw the results- you backfired.
I live in NW New Jersey where it's fairly rural with plenty of hiking trails, state parks, and lakes. There's even a small ski resort. Clean air, clean water, and beautiful scenery. Nearest malls are 30-45 minutes away, but it isn't a big deal if you would rather spend your time not wasting money. And we live only a little more than an hour away from NYC. This is just my perspective.
New Jersey is home to many desirable, suburban towns with excellent schools. Despite living here my whole life, I haven't really been to NJ cities (Newark, Jersey City, etc.), but I do hear Hoboken and New Brunswick are fairly nice. But our cities seem to have a ways to go.
Good food (pizza, delis, bagels, Italian, etc.) and good grocery stores.
I haven't spent much time in PA (Matamorous and Milford are nice towns), but would like to visit Philly and Pittsburgh. I have been to Allentown and thought it was a dump. PA is also cheaper and little slower paced which is a plus and I would consider living there, but I give New Jersey the edge. JMO.
People act like PA is the only place with a rural/decaying upstate. Every state has parts equivalent to appalachia.
